The ratio is not a style preference — it is a design commitment. An Ar of 1.0 means the surface stays snow-free even during active snowfall (the critical-access standard). An Ar of 0.5 allows accumulation during the storm but melts completely between events — the balanced residential choice. An Ar of 0.0 is the economy bottom-up melt that prevents ice bonding without maintaining a dry surface mid-storm.
